Running announcement ππΌββοΈ
Iβve kept it quiet but am excited to be running the @londonmarathon this year and would love your help in raising some money for the lovely guys at @macmillancancer support.
The word 'cancer' ignites fear, upset and hurt.
They are three of many waves of words, emotions and questions that roll in and out the forefront of thoughts for those affected. They were immediately there when Dad told me the news over FaceTime on my way to work a year ago.
Since then heβs been battling multiple myeloma through a bombardment of chemo, drugs, and more recently a bone marrow transplant. Myeloma is currently a terminal condition, but there are new and developing technologies that have been driving change and boosting longevity, finding new ways to tackle the 'bad' blood cells.
There have been ups and downs, side effects and lots of questions, but above all his strength, determination (stubbornness!), and positivity has kept him going, and Iβm hoping to use exactly that as motivation behind every step of the 26 miles around London.
My journey will no doubt be easier than his has been, but with your help itβll make dealing with such a feared entity a more manageable and pleasant one for so many others.
Iβm also running for Mum with the pain and challenges she's faced with unfaltering spirit and love for us all, for @davidflett and his tireless strength in supporting us all, and @seaarne for being defiantly positive and keeping me afloat through good and bad.
If you can find it in you to donate anything small or large it really will help to make a big difference. I wish there was more I could do, but with your help we can make more of an impact together.
Thank you in advance and I'll maybe see a few of you out there on April 26th!
Link to donate in my profile bio.
For Grandad, for Dad. Thank you.
